Games and Pit Stops

Hey everyone -

I am trying to put together games and pit stops related to Mission Delivery and Advocacy for our Relay on May 31.  Any ideas or suggestions?  I want to give my captains the game idea, the reason why this is important to RFL, Mission Delivery and Advocacy and tie that in with brochures and such.  We have the games at each team camp and then people go from site to site and have their passport stamped.

Thanks for any help.

Advocacy ideas?

I have had several volunteers say that Advocacy ideas are hard to come by... What ideas do you have?  Here are a few that other volunteers have shared:

·          Have Celebration on the Hill Ambassadors(s) & Survivors impacted by advocacy/gov’t relations attend Relay For Life events and speak – Have COTH ambassadors speak about their firsthand experience with Advocacy and its impact on them  Have survivor speak or talk about Advocacy/Government relations and the critical role everyone plays in securing the passage of cancer related legislation

Please also help the Reeve Foundation

Tomorrow is Grassroots Call-In Day:
Make a phone call to get the CRPA passed!

The next few days and weeks represent our final opportunity to have the Christopher Reeve Paralysis Act (CRPA) passed this Congress. On November 16, a grassroots coalition of advocates like you—people affected by paralysis—will be visiting Capitol Hill. Their mission is to persuade the chairmen of both committees to move the CRPA out of committee, before the end of the 109th Congress.

You can provide GREAT support to these volunteer patient advocates by making a simple phone call to each of the four committee chairs whose numbers are listed below.

Advocacy at Relay

At the LaGrange County Relay for Life in LaGrange, IN in June, we held a Health and Wellness Fair to promote good health in our community. We had nutritionist, hospital, skin care, blood pressure checks, massage therapist and tables with health information from other people in the community. We had seminars about how to do self breast exams, nutrition and skin care seminars.

We also held a Slip, Slop, Slap relay type race to promote sunscreen safety and we also had a lot of sunscreen samples donated by many sunscreen companies as well as a few hospitals.

I would love to hear what other events are doing for Advocacy.
