Quick Quiz for everyone... Who knows the guidelines for the early detection of cancer?

I tried this "quiz" at a team captain meeting to see if everyone knew these essentials of prevention. Everyone seemed to learn alot. I would encourage you to do the same at your meeting.

Does anyone have ideas of how to make this a fun activity for meetings or at Relay itself?

Great American Health Challenge

I recently discovered the Great American Health Challenge. Has anyone else ever utilized this tool? It has great information on eating healthy, increasing physical activity and quitting tobacco.

Also, has anyone used this as a "health challenge" among Relay teams or co-workers to promote an overall healthy lifestyle?

Helping people "Stay Well"

Hi! I am new to Relay for Life this year and will be serving as the Mission Delivery Chair. Could anyone provide me with information on how to help people "Stay Well"? I would love to hear from others who may have incorporated the "Stay Well" topics into committee meetings, workplace settings, Relays, etc.

Any help and information would be greatly appreciated! Thanks!

How do I find out about what American Cancer Society Programs and services are being provided here in MY relay community so that I can better talk about and promote them?

Cancer and Insurance: Who Do You Call?

For families affected by cancer, the phone number is easy to remember: 1-800-ACS-2345. The letters stand for the American Cancer Society, and dialing the number takes you to the ACS's National Cancer Information Center in Austin, Texas. The call center fields about a million calls a year, offering answers questions both simple and complex, from "Where can I get help with transportation when I can't drive to chemo appointments?" to "How do I find insurance if my illness forces me to quit my job?"

Mission Matters Newsletters/Updated Information

Looking for new ideas on promoting our Mission & Mission Matters to relay events.

I have already checked out the Mission Library, but I'm looking for great ideas on getting the information out in a fresh new way.

I would like to see a new area just for Mission Activities/Ideas. It would be great if staff & volunteers could provide documents with guidlines and/or instructions for activities they use.

One that I have used in the past is the Road to Recovery Race. Each team has one person entered. They decorate a cardboard box with their team theme or a road to recovery theme. One hole is cut out for the head and two holes are cut out on either side for the arms. Each person will then carry an egg in a spoon around the track. The egg represents the cancer patient. First one that completes a lap around the track without dropping the egg wins team points and special prize.

Relay Around The World

Hi guys and girls, it's been a while since I posted in the forum. When I was last here I was looking for an American relay to join with us in Bury, UK so that we can relay together in mutual encouragement and support.

Well i had a few replies and we "twinned" with Relay For Life San Ramon, Califonia. This partnership was a huge success as we set out to wallk the distance between our two venues (5212 miles) in our alotted mutual 24 hours, and to broadcast our events via the internet.

What we actually achieved was to walk over 6000 miles and to broadcast for 22.5 hours of the 24, and have gained a great deal from the mutual support and encouragement.

We are now looking for further relays to join us in and effort to "Relay Around The World", this is a hugely ambitious project as we intend to walk the distance around the earth (24900 miles).
