Hey Teens, I need your opinion on NHS and SC!!

We have an NHS sponsor asking us what their group can do for RFL. Other than actually working at the event, we need suggestions on how the NHS or Student Council students can hep RFL at different levels. Our event is held after school lets out so working at the event usually does not appeal to a lot of kids because school is done for the summer. How can we get the most bang for our buck with SC and NHS input throughout the year? We want to be able to provide community hours, in addition to any fundraising they may want to do.

Thanks!!!

High Schol Youth Fundraising?

I am currently the team captain of a team made completely of high schooler and two college students. I started this team my freshmen year of high school and I am now a college freshmen, however I am still very active in my team and want to help them as much as I possibly can.

Since this is our fifth year as a team\we are looking to raise much more than we ever have. We were thinking of planning a concert to put on at a local church that can hold over 2,000 people at once, but we also want more fundraisers to hold that are realistic for high school students to put on.

If you have any ideas they would be greatly appreciated!

Walking In The Rain

In 2009 me, my friend Lance, and my cousin Brenda participated in our first Relay For Life. When we got there the first thing we had to do was set up. It took us about 2 hours to set up a tent and it wasnt even a good one ended up hold it together by using half a roll of duck tape. Then once the walking started me, Lance and Brenda ealked beside my mom for a little bit. My mom is the one who suffers from breast cancer so we participated in her honor. And just so you all three of us were 16 at the time. Well anyways as we were walking it started to rain but instead of making us want to stop more people actually started walking it was so wierd. After a few seconds the track was almost full of people walking. Then an announcement came over the loudspeakers and said the coolest thing ever; "The rain was unexpected but just like cancer we wont stop" In that day we must have walked over 20 miles in 9 hours. But it was still the best experience I've ever had

Youth Registration Forms? - Solved!

Hello. I'm the captain of a team composed mainly of all my friends who just finished junior high with me. We're all fourteen. I am also the Luminaria Chair at our Relay.

I need to find the youth registration forms. The Youth Chaperone meeting is coming up soon and I desperately need to get all of the kids to sign it and I can't find it anywhere! Can someone please post a link or a Word document or something? I'm getting worried now. Thanks!

Questions?

How long does it take for the money you put in the bank to show on the website?

I am the captain of a team of all kids. I am only 12. But yeah, I gave her the money on Saturday. She said she coudn't turn it in until Tuesday. It is now Tuesday night and there is now acknowledgement of the money we had fund raised.

Letters to the schools?

Hi everyone!  I am trying to gain more youth involvement in our Relay.  One thought was to send letters/emails to all the schools in our county basically inviting the individuals or organizations to become involved in Relay.  However, I am having a hard time constructing a letter that is quick, to the point and thorough.  Does anyone have a similar letter they have used in the past or could direct me to where I could find one? Thanks so much!

Great West Division Youth Summit (videos?)

Last weekend two other committee members and I attended the GWD Youth Summit in Arizona.  It was one of the most amazing experiences of my life!  So many of the General Sessions were really powerfull.  Immediately I thought that some of those videos would be PERFECT to show at one of our Committee meetings to get our crew pumped up and even more passionate about this relay.  I have been looking for these videos on both this website and YouTube but have been unable to find them...  Does anybody know:

1)If they are going to be posted ever
2)If so, when?
3)Where could I find them?

Thank you so much for you're help!  I really appreciate any advice you could give...
