Integrating the new "sponsor of birthdays" theme into Relay

We know this is important here in Acton MA.  Anyone have any ideas how to reinforce this theme? I know we already have CRFB as a great overall theme.  But there must be ways to work it into meetings, ceremonies, speeches. Just tossing this out to get ideas.

Opening/Closing Ceremony Music

I have been given the honor of serving as the DJ/MC at several Relay For Life events in the northeastern Illinois area. One thing I always try to do to make the event special is to create Opening and Closing Ceremony music that captures the attention of the audience - and, in the case of the Closing Ceremony, once all the speeches are done, allows people to leave with a final laugh.

In 2009, I came up with the idea of using the music that Elvis Presley took the stage to in the 1970s - but it needed a little something more. So, I was able to snag a few soundbites from Relay For Life videos I found on YouTube, overlayed them onto the music, and - presto!

NEED INFO ON "HOPE" CEREMONY FROM SPRINGFIELD SUMMIT

Hi,
I attended the Springfield, Ma summit in November 2008 and they presented a HOPE ceremony that moved me. I would like to re-create this at my Relay. I have been hunting for this for several months, with no success. I am now pressed for time,as my event is in 16 days. Any info would be greatly appreciated. It is the ceremony where 4 cancer survivors spoke individually and invited the participants to light their glow sticks. Then we all joined in and sang "This Little Light Of Mine", with words related to CANCER. I did find the words but cannot find the actual song, with those words and the also the script that was read by the survivors. Please help.

Thanks,
Chris, Relay For Life of Greater Fall River

Looking for Lifesong for Our Survivor Ceremony

Hi Everyone,

Several years ago the American Cancer Society had a CD of songs that would be a great fit for our Relays.  One of the was called "Lifesong" by Jack Storey and the Track Blue.  I have been able to find the lyrics (or poem) but not the song.  I would love to be able to use it for our Grand Blanc MI Relay in just 28 days!  It is the perfect song for our Survivor Lap.  If anyone has a link to this song, please let me know.  Thanks to each of you for all that you are doing this year in your own Relay For Life!   Julie Menassaka, chairperson
