Team and Event Themes/NamesOne of the most frequent questions on the old cancer.org discussion board was for team and event theme ideas - for example, your event theme could be "The Nifty 50 United States" (like the kids' song), and each team could have a state for their theme... There are less and more complicated versions, and some events don’t really have an event theme at all that determines what "topic" team themes/names should be.
In any case, below are some Event Themes and Team Themes from the last several years of posts n cancer.org - hope this is helpful! rflvolunteer – December 22, 2006 – 2:25pm

team name ideasI am starting a new team and I am having a tough time thinking of a name. All the girls in my group and I are all in our younger 20's, so a fairly young group. Alot of people in my family have had cancer so I dont want to use any one persons name. I have been wanting to start a relay for life team for a few years but my younger cousin who just turned 17 has been diagnosed with brain cancer and that really motivated me to start this year. Any suggestions for an appropiate team name for us? thanks stangkat07 – November 16, 2009 – 11:39am

Asking prior year teams to come backWe have several prior year teams that have not yet registered for the 2010 season. I am looking for any sample letters around the theme of "we want you back". mariner5287 – October 23, 2009 – 4:16pm

IN A PICKLE - NEED ADVICEMy relay team is at work; and we were just informed that our Work picnic is the same day as our relay and that has really left some hard feelings for those involved with the realy. Yes our relay is from 12 noon Fri to 12 noon Sat but who wants to be up for over 24 hours and go to the picnic which is at an amusement park for a nother 12 hours or so...We want to do they relay, at least raise money for it but probably can't be at the relay itself. Someone mentioned that we have a mini relay here at work but I don't know how well that would go over. See we have over 600 employees but I would say maybe only 10 out of those 600 really attends the relay itself. We have no problem raising money with lunches, bake sales, etc here at work but it's getting other employees involved in the actual event that is the problem. Then I was thinking about being something like a "ghost" team but what message is that sending that we aren't actually there. meme2rowan – September 24, 2009 – 12:15pm

Punch CardsI read somewhere about punch cards to are made up for Team Captains with dates, actvities, goals, etc but I can'd find where I read that. Can anyone help me? Have you used these before? How does it work? Did it go over well? Is it worth the effort? What prizes did you give out? Do you have any samples I could see?
Thank you!! meme2rowan – September 15, 2009 – 4:12pm

Help with my team's theme! This year at my local Relay, the theme of the event is Around the World/Olympics. Each team had to pick a different country and represent it the day of the event. We need to decorate our tent accordingly too. My team has Brazil. We already have someone donating a whole bunch of Brazilian food, so that will be great... but we are kind of stuck at decorations and other things to make our Brazilian theme really stand out. Unfortunately I don't know much about Brazil.. besides that they have an amazing soccer and volleyball team. Does anyone have any suggestions for our Brazil theme? horizonofhope – June 5, 2009 – 11:12am

New and in need of infoHi! I'm new to Relay For Life. I just started a team called the No Namers (my daughters idea) that I am captain of. I have already talked to some friends and family about joining the team, personalized the team page and my personal page and brainstormed on some fundraising ideas to do locally, but I'm not sure where I should go from here. A few specific questions I have are, is there a paper form for joining a team, what is online fundraising, and since I started a team online does that mean that our team can only do things online or can we do things offline as well. Thanks for any and all info. God Bless!!! mommymaysof3 – April 7, 2009 – 9:12am
