Team and Event Themes/Names

One of the most frequent questions on the old cancer.org discussion board was for team and event theme ideas - for example, your event theme could be "The Nifty 50 United States" (like the kids' song), and each team could have a state for their theme...  There are less and more complicated versions, and some events don’t really have an event theme at all that determines what "topic" team themes/names should be.

In any case, below are some Event Themes and Team Themes from the last several years of posts n cancer.org - hope this is helpful!

Colors of Cancer

Our city wide Relay's theme for  2010 is The Colors of Cancer.  Is there another way to name or describe this without having to call it colors?  I know of the Rainbow for a Cure but just saying colors seems so boring.  Any ideas?  Also, I need to figure out a way to decorate our team's site so if you've got any ideas I'm open to suggestion.

How to get a camp site?

Hi, I'm new to this Relay for Life thing, and I know what it is but, how do I rent or get a camp site?

Team Recruitment Letters

Hi everyone,

This is my first year on the committee for Team Development and I was told there are some sample team recruitment letters on relayforlife,org.....I just can't seem to find them.  If anyone would be so kind to post a link to these sample letters, I would greatly appreciate it!

Can't reach local co-chairs for sign up questions

I have some family willing to participate if I captain, but can't seem to get the local co-chairmen to answer my email questions so we can actually get started.   Is there a main contact office in the Seattle/Everett Washington area? This is a family team, and I'll have people coming in from out of town to participate.  I just need to get some questions answered before we can get started.

The most important two are:

1.  How many people to we have to have for a team?

2.  Do I HAVE to pay up front myself for the team to register us, or can people pay online as they sign up?

I've captained a team for work before, but didn't have to deal with this type of details, and it was not this local event.

Any help would be great.  The family willing to participate really want to get this going.  I don't want to lose their enthusiasm!

Looking for a team in Gwinnett County, GA

I am looking for a team to join since my company does not have one.  I'd prefer it not be affiliated with any companies, so that there's not a conflict of interest.   I had a bad experience in last years Relay in Barrow County, so I'd love to switch over.   If anyone needs members, please let me know.  I'd really like to participate again this year.

Thanks!

Jennifer

Relay for life Around the Globe - the netherlands

Hi everybody!

I'm Bas and im 18 years old and im a cancer survivor. Im walking with relay for lifes since 2007 here in the Netherlands. I would like to involve more youth people and i would like to exchange some ideas for setting up a team and for the organisation of a Relay for Life.  ive walked with more than 10 relays in the netherlands - Its very special, everytime! every relay for life is different, but they have all the same goal. Ive my own time: Mission Possible and we are a very enthausiastic team with a lot of youth!

Does sombody has good ideas for what we can sell on our stall?
we are also searching for a partner-relay-for life team! we want to exchange ideas and we want to have contact frequently. - maby we can send eachother some relay stuff: our team-relay-for life t-shirt or whatever.

Im looking forward to some replies!

Greetings and take care!

team name ideas

I am starting a new team and I am having a tough time thinking of a name.  All the girls in my group and I are all in our younger 20's, so a fairly young group.  Alot of people in my family have had cancer so I dont want to use any one persons name. I have been wanting to start a relay for life team for a few years but my younger cousin who just turned 17 has been diagnosed with brain cancer and that really motivated me to start this year. Any suggestions for an appropiate team name for us?

thanks

Asking prior year teams to come back

We have several prior year teams that have not yet registered for the 2010 season.  I am looking for any sample letters around the theme of "we want you back".
