Recruitment at Christmas Parade

Anyone ever tried handing out candy to use for recruitment at a Christmas Parade or to get people to give a gift to Relay instead of buying a gift?

Orientation of New Committee Members

Does anyone have any printed material they share with new committee members? We're looking to create an orientation guide that we can hand to anyone interested in serving on the committee, and new people that might not be as familiar with relay. If anyone is willing to share, we would appreciate it.

Thanks.

2009 California Relay Summit

Does anyone know if/when there will be a Relay Summit for California? I am a "newbee" Chairman of the Luminaria Committee and would love to learn as much as possible. This will also be my 3rd year as Team Captain and Participant!

Thanks!

Recruitment Ideas

Has anyone ever used craigslist, or similar sites, to recruit new committee members?  If so, how was the response?

Leadership Development

Hey Michelle,

Here is the Leadership Development Breakout Requests.  The pictures of the leaders of the last 25 years should be printed as posters, 2' x 3'.  The name plates that go underneath the pictures should be printed as follows:

Leaders Name

Leaders Position

Major Leadership Accomplishment

This information is attached as Word Document along with the Leadership Quotes that they want printed as 3' x 2' posters.

Staff Breakout Room Requests

Michelle,

Attached are the Pictures that the Staff Breakout presenters would like enlarged based on the specified dimensions in the Master Spreadsheet.  The "Image" pictures are the flower pictures for an Icebreaker and should be 8.5" x 11", laminated.  The "Surveys" are for the walls and should be poster size, 2' x 3'.

First Time Chair NEED HELP

Hey Everyone,

I am Candice and this is my first time being a Chair for the RFL. I have 98 days till the DAY!! We only have 38 participants online and I dont even have a full committee. I just took on this role a month ago bc the person who was supposed to be chair just kinda disappeared. I know this event is sooooo important to so many ppl and they look forward to this happening annually. Especially when some know they may not make it to the next one. I just want this to be a success but for some reason I am having a hard time lighting that fire under everyones butt. Any ideas to get everyone more involved? We had 65 teams last year and raised around $220,000 as a small town. So I would like to be at least that. Of course my goals are higher but at this rate I will be happy if we are just as good or close. Any advice? I am pretty much doing everything on my own. HELP. Also, Orgnaization and templetes will help. Pretty much wont turn down anything. Thank you so much for your time!!!

Nominating Committee Members

Hi!  My staff partner has come up with a great idea to have the current committee nominate committee members for certain positions.  Has anyone tried this in the past and how have you have found the best way to reach success is to do this?
