relayprizes.com

Hello all!!

I'm trying to find out where committees can go to view more relay committee related items that are not found on relaygear.com.

Things such as survivors sashes, decor/banners for ceremonies (ie - fight back banners).  I see them at other relays in othr states, but my staff partners haven't really known quite where to get them form in PA.

I'm also wondeirng what person to go to in an ACS office to get a username/access code for relayprizes.com

I liek the preview of their site and relaly think they'd have some GREAT products to use at our walk, but can't seem to find anyone in my ACS office that will respond to me about an access code, even though the site itself says go to ACS contact for a username/access code.

Awards

I am interested in hearing some of the awards that other Relays give out. We just started doing this last year, and it was a huge hit. But, being the chairperson for the awards committee, I can only think so far. What are some ideas, thoughts, suggestions? I am open to anything!!!!!!!!!

Committee

Focus on Committee:  Assess/review last year's committee; identify gaps; assess community; do it year-round.

Build It:  Use your "ASK" - attitude, skills, knowledge.  Provide the tools.

Pass It On:  Plan early, recruit year-round.

Committee Blitz Strategy:  Make list of people/organizations.  Search - seek out the right person from organizations, Relay, friends.  Share - Blitz community and make it fun!.  Communicate your needs, blitz year-round, carry around ACS cards.  Sign - get yes, no or another name (not a maybe); follow-up; ask for a commitment.

Online Recruitment:  Use technology:  Facebook, myspace, twitter, craig's list, youtube, relay online, volunteermatch.org.

Trying to Find the Leavenworth County (Kansas) Relay Committee for 2010 Event

Hi, I'm Terry.  I was Team Captain of the Team "Change 4 Mom" on the 2009 Relay for Life of Leavenworth County (Kansas).  I am trying to find out when the 2010 Relay for our county will be held and the info posted (as an upcoming event) on the Relay for Life website, so we can get our new team registered and have it sponsored by PartyLite.  My teammate (Mary "Penny" Umscheid) is one of their independent consultants and will be our NEW team captain under the proposed team name of PartyLite Shining Hope (Penny has to be the new team captain to use that name).   We were told that PartyLite's Regional Ambassador for our area is Tina Drummond.  If you are not familiar with PartyLite's support of the Relay for Life, please visit their website at  www.partylite.com   I was definitely and pleasantly surprised at the amount of support this company provides to the Relay for L

New Event Chair... any advice, ideas, suggestions? Please help! :)

Hello everyone!  This will be my 3rd year working with Relay For Life... my first just participating with my team as team captain, last year as Entertainment/Activities Chair and this coming year I will be the Event Chair... have I lost my mind!?  haha :)   I would greatly appreciate any comments or tips that anybody might have with a little bit more experience than me!

This year will be the 10th year for our event, so we are doing a HAPPY BIRTHDAY theme.

I'd really like to involve youth a lot more at this Relay and would also welcome any suggestions on how your Relays have been successful with this in the past.

Thank you so much in advance!

Mission & Advocacy at Meetings

Hello All!

What are some successful blurbs, games, or informational packets that you have used to promote mission and advocacy at your team captain meetings? I am beginning a committee position this year that combines Mission & Advocacy and was hoping to add some great ideas to my agenda for the year!

Thanks,

Brandon

committee outlines

i have in the past used acsrelay.org but unfortunately cannot access it now. i am looking for the outline of committee positions and their subcommittees. we have gotten used to working with a small group where everybody multi-tasks but we now have a large group of people interested in joining us for the 2010 relay. i would like to have this ready for our first meeting so that the people can see the roles needed and the work involved. we do have an aged event and would like it to grow more. it seems that this would help a lot. i have checked through what is in the toolkit here but i know i have seen a much more in depth outline before.

i appreciate any help you can send my way. (ps. the links to societylink seem to show that site is down. again)

 thank you,

lisa, roc
