Team of the Relay

Does anyone out there have ideas for doing a Team of the Relay?? Last year at our Relay, we did this but only did it during Relay. We had 24 hours of events/activities/games that teams could participate in and earn points for. Points varied (more points during 2am-5am, or for more challenging "out of the box" games, and mission/advocacy-related games), and anyone that participated could earn points for their team, plus winners earned additional points.

some campsite help plz

The theme of our Relay is "Set the stage for a cure"; My wife(my co-captain) and I have decided to go off the beaten path. Instead of doing the normal "Guys and Dolls", "Grease", "Hello Dolly", "South Pacific" etc. etc. etc. We have decided to showcase "Snoopy: The musical". However we need a team name. We were thinking "The Fying Aces", or maybe "The blockheads". For our campsite so far we have thought of Snoopy as the flying Ace(his dog house would be purple tho),we can also then use it in the road to recovery race. We also have come up with Lucy's booth. Any other ideas would be appreciated.

Help with entertainment ideas

Last year I covered our local Relay For Life for our small town newspaper.  It was the first RFL I'd ever been to.  I was so moved I volunteered to be on the committee this year and was assigned as the entertainment and activities chair.

I am so clueless as to what to do.  Our Relay is indoors and our crowd turnout is not really the sort to do theme laps or the like.

Please send me all the entertainment and activity ideas you can think of.  Our Relay goes from 6p.m. to 6 a.m.

We do a survivor's lap, a "future" lap (children's lap).

We are a very small community so any ideas you can give me will help greatly.

Thanks,

Campsite decorating

Our team is focusing on fighting back. We are thinking of creating a boxing ring and decorating with boxing gloves, shorts, etc. Any ideas on where to begin? What is everyone else thinking of doing. I love hearing everyones ideas on here!

New to relay and need lots of ideas

Hello everyone out there - i am new to Relay and the activities committee. Well last year was our first year doing Relay at this location and I was a team captain, i did so well that they asked me to join the committee and now I am the head of the Activities and Entertainment Committee. I am looking for new ideas of what's done at other relays. Our relay is a 12 hour relay, It starts at 5 P.M. and goes until 5 A.M.

Does anyone else out there have the same timeslot, and if so what types of activities work best after midnight, i would like some suggestions on how to keep everyone active and motivated until the wee hours of the morning. I have a bunch of ideas we have been working on but not sure when to plan them, i know we have the Opening Ceremonies at 5 the survivors lap at 5:30 and the luminary at 9 and the closing ceremonies at 4:30.

I want to do a jail and bail booth, a silent auction sort of thing, but that can go all night, i believe one team last year had a space walk out there for the kids and pony rides, not sure if they plan on coming back. I want to try a Relay Olympics sort of thing, but am getting stuck on events to do as part of the olympics. I have a few planned suck as tug of war, musical chairs, 3 legged race, dizzy bat race, water balloon toss (instead of egg toss) does anyone have any other ideas they've tried before.

Relay "Expect A Miracle"

My husband, who is a cancer survivor and I have spent the last 3 years working on an independent feature film called "Expect A Miracle". We're offering the film on line and to any relay for life organization that would like to use it as a fundraiser. Also on line, the film may be purchased for $19.99 and the American Cancer Society receives  $15.00 dollars in return!

Check us out on the web at http://expectamiraclethemovie.com You can view the movie trailer and learn all about the story behind the story. Also, you can check out this link at MySpace: http://myspace.com/dvdmovie

This film could be used as entertainment as a fund raiser activity. My husband can present a program to your relay group. He tells the story of how the movie was made and he includes his own cancer story.  He also wrote the American Cancer Society's award winning song for their new website sharinghope.tv.

Check out the website. You"ii be amazed at what about 100 volunteers can accomplish when winning the fight against cancer is everyone's goal!
