getting doorprizes

As I go out to recruit Relay teams I 'multi-task.' When I go to the local business groups, such as the local chamber of commerce, Rotary etc I ask a notice to be in their newsletter. Because they are groups of local business owners, I request each person attending the meeting I am speaking with to bring a doorprize to the meeting with them. This has been so helpful gathering doorprizes, all in one spot instead of chasing all over town. And the people who did not bring something feel left out and will usually make sure they tell me to stop by and they will have something for me, nothing lik

Entertainment suggestions

I have been the chair of our Irving Relay for two years. I have had success in several ways: * I invite local dance troupes, karate studios, etc to perform during the evening. When the children come, so do the parents. Those who have not heard of Relay before are really impressed and tend to stay for a while and enjoy the evening. And, by the way, they bring money to purchase our on-site fundraising items! * I scheduled a "battle of the bands" last year that was really successful. We invited local bands to come out and perform. They performed after midnight, and went on for about 2 1/2 hours. Each team received 15 tickets in their team captain's registration packet so they could vote for their favorite band. I sold extra tickets at 5/$1. Everyone had a good time and we made an additional $150 off of ticket sales!
