Second Life is a virtual community with many diverse groups, and these groups are made up of many nationalities. Second Life's Relay For Life Team is a cross section of this community all joining together to fight cancer, educate others, and offer support to those touched by cancer. If nothing else we have the common goal to find a cure. So, come on in-world and join us. You would be so welcome and you are most needed. "Until there's a CURE...there's RELAY."

Fought a Good Fight (with stones though?)

NO! We fought a GREAT fight!

Second Life's Relay For Life Team Members, Planning Committee, and Supporters stepped up to the call to fight cancer with a tenacious determination to do their best and that is exactly what they did.   Their relay, Relay For Life of Second Life, the world's only virtual relay, raised over 270,000.00 USD.  That's a great fight!

Walking a Relay for 24 hours

Some people actually think that walking a Relay for 24 hours is un - important?  OMG!  UN-IMPORTANT!  Could they be more wrong?

" And...we had a GREAT fundraising weekend:) "

to quote my friend and co-Event Chair Belle Loll.  I intended to hit the highlights of the weekend now  but there was so many exciting  activities I could never do them all justice and I would hate to leave one out, as all are certainly note worthy.  So I am asking for a representative from each team that fundraised this weekend to hit comments below and tell us of your event, maybe even add why YOU Relay.  We really want to know - what went on, roughly what you raised, and why you Relay.  Come on now! No shyness please, this is Relay we are talking about!

Relayers in Your Peripheral Vision

I was talking to a friend the other day that is always in my peripheral vision but never in the direct line of sight.  Wonderful person; friendly, compassionate, always has time to listen but a non-Relayer who at the start of relay had  stepped in, without a word, and shouldered my responsibilities in a project.  Great person!  We  had reached a point in the conversation where I was thanking them for taking on my responsibilities and expressing my Relay created reasons for not doing them myself, when I said "I am so sorry you don't Relay ...

Reaching Astonomical Numbers

Corporate Sponsorship money.  WOW!  Gotta have it!  It makes the totals of your Relay reach those astronomical numbers that many of us only dream of reaching.  And those numbers make your Relay standout and gain recognition, recognition that one wants their Relay volunteers, their teams, their committee members to receive because  they deserve it!  Boy, they deserve it and so much more.

But how does one get that corporate sponsorship money? Send a form letter requesting placement on a budget at the beginning of the year?  Walk into the

"HALFWAY to RELAY DAY FAIR"

The name of this event get's longer every time I think of it but - it was one awesome party. Seaway Brodsky and her sister, Mystic, captain / co-captain of the Dixie Rebel Relayers wanted to "do" something to demonstrate that even though the teams have a friendly competion going on as to which teams would raise the most money; they were all still fighting the same cause and supporting each other in doing it. Being that in Second Life we had decided to fundraise for six months and we were 3 months to Relay ,the, "Halfway There Fair" was born and with the guidance of Wenchie and Chantal (two amazing relayers in their own right) everything with off smoothly. Thank yous are due to so many people and I would hate to miss anyone, SL takes fighting cancer very serious and everyone (and I mean EVERYONE) jumps in to give of their skill, time, money, whatever they have to offer...it gives me goosebumps to think of it. Randy? Trish? Jump in here and help me explain...
