Planning for fundraising:  Chair responsible for planning, accountability, before during after, point person for planning fundraisers, fundraising guidelines.  Need to coordinate event fundraising. 

 

Fundraising Guidelines:  Is it ethical?  Is it going to be offensive? What are the financial risks/outcomes?  If there are any unanswered questions, call staff partner.  Cannot have bank accounts under ACS/Relay name.  Need to do expense planning.  Can't use ACS on orders, etc.

 

Teaching Fundraising:  Where and when to teach - Team captain meetings, Team captain university modules, fundraising workshops.    What to teach:  Balanced approach to fundraising.

Team Level - individual, online, team, onsite.  Event Level - team, sponsorship, luminaria.

 

Train for online fundraising - facebook, twitter.

 

Onsite Fundraising:  massages, haircuts, idol contest.

 

Tips & Tools:  Put in laps of teams.  Invite home-based business consultants to talk about fundraising opportunities (Tupperware, Taste of Home, Avon).  $100 in bag (10 prescription bottles, 10 luminaria forms, 1 community partner application, etc).  Fundraiser Expo during Team captain meeting.  relayforlife.org.  success stories, online fundraising features.

 

Recognition:  Grand Club, All star awards, team captain gifts.  When:  team captain meetings, Relay, after Relay (top 10 dinner), at every opportunity.

 

Volunteer participation; more teams; more participants; survivors/caregivers beyond first lap; fundraising chair; get word out.
