This year the Clatsop County Relay For Life was an AMAZING experience. We set our goal at $82,000, and then the economy "tanked" (at least according to the media!) We set out knowing we had a real challenge on our hands and determined to do our very best to reach our goal (or get real close to it!) On August 31, the deadline for final donations for 2009, we found that our Relay had collected donations EXCEEDING $125,000! The hard work and dedication of all our volunteers, teams and the generosity of our donors was AMAZING! We had not ONE, but TWO teams that raised OVER $10,000; one of them came just short of $20,000! This team had lost their "Princess Madeline" who had been our Grand Marshall for the 2008 Relay, and they sold plants, went online for donations, held yard sales, and an AMAZI We also had some AMAZING sponsors, who really came through for us again this year, in spite of the harsh economic predictions. We had two sponsors who gave $10000 in in-kind donations for advertising and helping us get the word out. Many, many other local businesses and health care services provided us a total of $14000 in corporate sponsorships! THANK YOU! The pure passion, endless energy and tireless devotion to the cause to find a cure for cancer is alive and well in Clatsop County! I am so proud of all our volunteers!!!!!!! It truly DOES take a community that cares, and WE HAVE IT!!!!
