I am a newly recruited Mission Delivery chair for my local Relay. Where can I go to learn more about the mission of the American Cancer Society and how to talk about it to my committee and team captains?

Mission D ideas

First, there are a couple great e-learning modules you can watch for more information (copy and paste the urls into your browser):
Relay Mission Development training: http://training.relayforlife.org/courses/mission/index.htm
ACS: Who We Are and What We Do e-learning: http://www.societylink.org/portlets/SWWPortlets/training/elearning/bl/AC...

Then maybe try scheduling an interview with the local Quality of Life staff (or whatever the mission/programs staff is called in your area). They have a really solid understanding of the Society's programs and services in your community and can help you understand that aspect of the Society's work.

For information on cancer research, cancer.org is really the best place for more information:
ACS Research Program and Funding: http://www.cancer.org/docroot/RES/RES_0.asp

For information on Advocacy and legislative efforts to impact cancer treatment, research and prevention, check out www.acscan.org.
List of Federal Advocacy Campaigns: http://action.acscan.org/site/PageServer?pagename=Campaigns

Hope this gives you a good start!
