NO! We fought a GREAT fight!

Second Life's Relay For Life Team Members, Planning Committee, and Supporters stepped up to the call to fight cancer with a tenacious determination to do their best and that is exactly what they did.   Their relay, Relay For Life of Second Life, the world's only virtual relay, raised over 270,000.00 USD.  That's a great fight!

I have had the honour of being the Relay Event Chair of Second Life's Relay For Life and actually participated in relaying with these compassionate people, from around the world, for the last four years, and I proudly stand here to tell you that there is no better community of people, none. I would, and will stand, shoulder to shoulder with any of them in any world.  They are as remarkable as their Relay!  I sincerely thank each and every one of them.

*smiling, But before I close I want to share a story with you.  There is a satire out there about Relay For Life in Second Life, and in this presentation the statement is made "you can’t throw a stone without hitting one of them".  *giggling, While exploring yesterday in an area of underwater tunnels, rooms, and caves my friend and I were still laughing over that statement while we each choose a different tunnel to walk and took off in our respected ways.  All of a sudden he let out a yell and started insisting I come to where he was standing.  Of course, I start backtracking and looking right and left to locate him, the whole time he is screeching "Come on!  Get over here!"  I am deeply concern now, but as I walk up on where he is standing I see nothing, NOTHING!  I look at him as he is falling over with laughter and wonder if we have been too deep, for too long, even in a virtual world.  He then points to this little wood cube that looks like a new person had been here ahead of us and was trying to learn how to build.  I inspect the cube and saw nothing.  My friend managed to choke out the words "look at the group".  *shaking head back and forth ... Yep,  in a place where we had not seen a kiosk, vender, or sign for the last hour was one little beginner's cube, who's maker left the cube marked with the group - Relay For Life of Second Life Volunteer.  *laughing, You really can't throw a stone without hitting one -- *winking at you, and that's a great thing too!

See ya at a Relay!   ~Fay
