Emily Garrish is a senior at Loch Raven High School. Emily has formed a Relay for Life event at Loch Raven High School in memory of her late Principal Jackie Lamp, in honor of “Trey,” the sophomore class treasurer, currently undergoing treatment, and Lynn Jacobs, a LRHS teacher just diagnosed with cancer in the past month.

The PTSA president had asked for a brief biography for an award to recognize this young lady. This is what her faculty sponsor had to say:

“One of many distinct honors would be the work that she has done as the Team Captain for Relay for Life at Loyola College where she has led her team in raising over $19,000 in the past three years. For three years she has raised money for the American Cancer Society by getting her friends, family, school, and community involved.  She began doing this in honor of one of her friends' mother who had battled cancer that year. Her sister Olivia Garrish is actively involved on the Relay for Life committee at Loyola College and helped Emily join in the event there.

This year we are so proud that she has brought the Relay for Life here to Loch Raven High School in memory of our principal Jacqueline T. Lamp. Emily has gotten the entire school on board by motivating them to form about 30 teams for our event on April 25th, which has made Loch Raven High School the talk of the town over at the American Cancer Society.”

As of May 6, the Loch Raven event has raised over $30,000 in their overall fundraising efforts.
