Hi my name is Shirley Walker and I'm from King George Virginia. I have been involved in the relay for life for 3 years now as a member of a team. This past relay was the most special for me. Last August my 19 year old Niece/Godchild was told she had a tumor which turned out to be Ovarian Cancer. What a shock to the family. We were all thinking this can not be happening to such a young child, this is the type of Cancer that effects 45 and older women. Well, after many, many, many nights of prayers she is now Cancer free. My mother has had Uterin cancer, my Aunt Breast Cancer and then this. Unfortunelty my Aunt did not survive and lost her life at age 46. My mom is a 27 year survior and now my niece Whitney is a survior, Thank you GOD. The night of the relay was just the most heart warming experience. I look so forward to supporting the Relay's all over. I think everyone should experience the passion and love that everyone feels the night of the relay especially at the Luminaria Celebration. What a wonder event.......
