Hello, My name is Kyle Hassell, I am 18 years old, my mother was diagnosed with Hodgken's Disease, in April 2006. I feel like I need to start up a team to participate in local Relays located in Raleigh. But I have no idea where to get started. As most of you all know it is hard living someone who is battling cancer, much less being the one who has it. If anyone can give me tips and advise I would really appreciate it.
Thanks and God Bless,
Kyle Hassell

Kyle,
First, sorry for what you are going through with your mom. I will not claim to know what it is to walk in your shoes, but please know we are thinking of you and pulling for you and your mom.
Second, we can definitely help you get a team going. I would pick an event in Raleigh closest to you/family/friends and plan on having a team there. You can find your closest event at:
http://www.cancer.org/docroot/par/content/PAR_1_Relay_For_Life.asp
The events I see in Raleigh are the following:
| Name of Event | Start Date/Time | Location | Distance |
| 1. | Relay for Life of Wake - Raleigh |
Raleigh, NC
See a map
Garner, NC

Cary, NC

Is one of these the one you are looking for?
You can also contact a local office to get help... An office in Raleigh you can call is:
Raleigh Office
8300 Health Park, Suite 10
Raleigh, NC
27615

Phone: (919)334-5218
Fax: (919)841-1422
Basically, when you register on-line or call them, you can get a team captain's packet that will tell you what you need to do... You find 8-15 friends and family, ask them to each raise $100, and go from there. We can help you with fundraising ideas, education you can give your team members, and more.
Does this make sense? Email rflvolunteer@gmail.com to discuss further.

Hey Kyle,
I'm sorry to hear about your mom, but i think it's great that you want to fight back. if your'e looking for a relay to join in go to relay.org . from there you can clicik on the link that says "Get Involved" Then when you get to that page click Participate. On that page there will be a box that says "Find Relays Near Me" Just fill it out and then you'll get a page that tells you all the relays in your area. Most relays will have their own web page for you to look at and those will give you a contact person. Good Luck!! Any questions just let me know!!
