Has anyone ever done the Jail until Bail thing for a fundraiser? It's where someone is "arrested" until their bail is paid then they get released. We're thinking about doing it this year but we aren't sure how exactly to go about doing it. Any help would be appreciated. Thanks

My club will be hosting a Jail and Bail at the Rancho Cordova Relay. As we are a Star Trek Klingon group; the folks being arrested will be arrested by armed Klingons, brought before a Klingon judge and of coarse found guilty. The warrants have been signed by Martok himself. Those arrested will have the option of purchasing their warrants for a small fee.
Should be a blast. We are building our own jail cell. Those who have done this before; if you have any ideas or suggestions please post them.

We did the Jail Until Bail at 2008 Oklahoma Relay and did really good as a fund Raiser. They had someone pay $5.00 to put someone in jail and then another person or the one arrested had to pay another 5.00 to get out or they had to sit in the jail for 15min. Then was out. It was alot of fun and we are doing it at the Realy For Life May 29,2009. We used the dug out at the ball field where we have the relay. It works out really great. Hoep this helps as it is a great and a fast Fund Raiser. We also do the Silent Auction and raised a round a Thousand for this event. Have Funa dn good luck.
Hey folks! Our Lebanon, PA event has been doing a Jail & Bail successfully for the past 6 years, so I thought I'd supply you with some of the forms from our activity so you have a great idea on how we do it. Our Jail & Bail is actually done in conjunction with our Annual Relay Day at the Lebanon Valley Mall (where all participating teams can sell wares, crafts, baked goods, etc. during the Mall hours to anyone there, benefitting their teams), but you can do it at Relay just as easy. This was an idea I came up with to actually increase the attendance of Non-Relay folks at our Mall Day, in order to get them there to see what all goes on that day, pick up ACS materials (patient service brochures, Luminaria, Survivor & Relay Registration forms, etc.), and buy things from the participating teams while there. It works!!!
Jail & Bail participants are given a base amount that they need to raise to be released, but they can make it any $ amount they desire. I started just by doing this as a fundraiser on my own, but over the past 3 years, I have also allowed other Relay teams to send someone to jail to raise $ on behalf of their team too, and that has done VERY well! Politicians, church Pastors, Educators, NO ONE is above being thrown in the pokie for cancer. Here a few forms from the past few years - just to get your ideas rolling, but feel free to email me if you need more info though :-)

Wow, thats a really good idea. I think I will incorporate this into our Relay. Oakley Ca. is having the 1st ever Relay on May 2nd and 3rd 2009. We will be having city officals at our Relay, so this would be perfect. I'll have a jail set up, I'll have security arrest them, and then who ever can bail them out for a fee. I think I'll start with the Mayor...Oh wait...they'll let her rot..Ok..the City manager should work to be the first.
