anyone ever done a guitar hero competition?

There are a lot of different ways you could set it up, but first you would need to do a few things.

1.  Find a location, a place where there is a lot of people like a pizza place is a really good place to start asking.

Make sure you set a specific date and time with the location and ask what is the limit of people they

would allow for an event like this.  If you do it at a restaurant, ask the manager if they

can do a profit sharing night.  where you get a portion of the sales durring the event.

2.  Make sure you have at least 2 stations for people to play.  The more stations you have

the more people you can have playing at a time, the more money you can raise.

3.  Spread the word.  word of mouth is the best way.  flyers, myspace, anything.

4.  Create tournament brackets. This will also be determined by the number of participants. The easiest way to do this is to create a 16-player, single-elimination bracket. Each player will get to compete at least once with the winner moving on to play another winner. In the end one player will be the outright winner.

5.  Create a scoring rule.  when we did a tournament at school we always used the points after the song was done

to determine who the winner was.  it is easier if you have the 1st round be the same difficulty and same song for everyone

then random songs and higher difficulty for the rounds after.

6.  Prizes.  ask different places for donations, gift cards are the best.

7.  Have fun!

Our Relay is also doing a

Our Relay is also doing a Guitar Hero Contest and those guidelines are very helpful.  I only have a couple things to add:

Pre-Sell Tickets!  It's a lot easier to keep track of the amount of people coming and it's kind of a built in book-keeping tool.

Create guidelines for the songs;  Many Guitar Hero songs offend people if they're overly crude, ask your specific location if they have any guidelines for song choice.

I would love to hear how your Relay/Team did with this fundraiser and any tips.  This is a first time fundraiser for us so anything is helpful!

Best of luck!
