HI There Fellow Relayers,

Has anyone ever heard of doing a cut out of a tree,  hanging it in the Survivors Tent and placing all survivors names on the tree branches.

If someone out there has done this please let me know how exactly it works and how it went over with the survivors.  I think it maybe called the Tree of Hope but am not sure

Thank you                                                          craftie043@yahoo.com

survivor tree

We started our "survivor" tree last year. We took a white sheet and painted the trunk of a tree with branches. At each of our relay activities we have any survivor add their hand prints. They did this with fabric paint. We have them put on rubber gloves, for easy cleanup, and they put their handprints wherever they want. We then write their name underneath. This year we will add a different color of green and paint over their handprint from last year so the tree becomes fuller and more dimensional.

It is awesome! We have a huge "kingsize" sheet with the prints of all of our surviviors. It hangs at every meeting as a reminder, it was hung at our "Kick Off" dinner and it is usually the center of attention...Not to mention the survivors love it!
