Something that came up in the surveys from last year (our first year of RFL) was a way to communicate announcements during the day was needed.
We have various rock bands performing all day but we do not want to interrupt them between sets.
An electronic white board was suggested but I believe that would be an unnecesary cost.
Any suggestions?

A friend that is a DJ, through the magic of technology, broadcasts on local radio waves. He simply picks an unused radio frequency and broadcast through it. The teams are asked to bring radios that then are used to broadcast not only entertainment but important announcements as well. This works well when the teams camp in an area away from the walking track.

Low tech / low-to-no cost...a simple dry-erase board placed near the track (and near the admin tent). As Relayers walk laps, they'll see the announcements. "Want to be up-to-date on announcements? Make sure you've got one team member on the track at all times." :)
