Hey, I've been doing Relay for 3 years now.  One thing I've learned is more people will donate if they get something in return.   One idea for school is to have a hat day: the kids pay $1 to their homeroom teachers to wear a hat that day; you collect it at the end of the day from the principal.  Another idea is sell the cookie dough or popcorn tins; www.redwheelfundraising.com.  Aonther idea is have a yard sale; advertise that you need donated items for a yard sale and then set aside a Saturday with your team to host a really big yard sale (main roads are best).  Another is to do a bake sale.  Another might be to have a hot dog day at a park; ask your local parks and recreation division if they would mind if you set up a little grill with a cooler and cook out hotdogs and cokes for the families visiting the park that day; have the food items donated or go to the Dollar Store and then charge like $3 a lunch.  One more... host an auction; again have gift certificates and baskets donated and then find a good place to have an auction.  Hope these ideas help... good luck!
