Does anyone have any ideas for a Casino-themed Relay For Life such as with decorations or activities during the night?  Any help would be appreciated! Thanks!

Casino Night

I went to a Relay for Life sponsered Casino Night style event in south dakota in 2007. They had texas holdem, black jack, clug a lug games they provider for along with auction for donated items with the fake money you won to bid on the items. I brought some of my casino style supplies roulette and a craps table. (Needless to say neither was used because no one at the event knew how to run them) I was playing texas holdem and now I could run the roulette table. I got signs  and other items that advertise casino night. I just have simple items that I have accoumulated over the years. I also have some pictures I took of the event that year. (cannot gaurentee the quality) if you want me to post them. I think they charged $10 with an advance ticket and $15 at the door. They had food, hosting site had enough room for all the Relay for life volunteers and guest. They thanked me about bring the craps and roulette table. They advertised for it profoundly.                  -SouthDakotaNurse

RE: Ideas for Casino-themed Relay??

We haven't used a casino theme, but during my senior year of high school the junior class parents threw a casino themed after-prom party. They had casino games set up (a makeshift roulette wheel, a blackjack table, poker, etc.) and as you went in you made a donation to get play money. I think the money was in increments of $50.

You also might think about doing a take-off on Casino Royale and James Bond.

Check out party stores in your area and websites for supplies like large playing cards and dice.

I hope this helps!

RE: Ideas for Casino-themed Relay??

When I was in college we did the same thing.    We also had businesses donate prizes.  At the end of the night there was an auction, using the play money won, to bid on the various prizes that were donated.
