My team is going to do Flying Flamingos this year to help fundraise. Because we are doing it at school, we can't exactly get a bunch of flamingos and block the hallways. Anyone have any ideas of alternatives of props that we can use to do up the target areas without blocking the pathway?

 Thanks.

Krystal

other flamingo ideas

Yeah, I have to disagree with the flamingo table stirrers - many kids would be much more wanting to keep the flamingo than pay a dollar to return it. That much I know.

Have you heard of the purple toilet idea? Perhaps you can encourage the kids to donate money and, if you raise enough, the principal will allow a random purple toilet to sit in the lobby/cafeteria, or, if you still want to do the flamingo idea, do a penny war or something and have the reward be a pink flamingo pizza party, and everyone will know which classroom triumphed by the gigantic butcher paper pink flamingo on the classroom door.

Well... If they keep them...

You've still raised the $1. Smile

But I understand the point.

Be careful with the Purple Toilet and Lawn Flamingos - In a school it may not be an issue, but I have read many posts about upset communities that didn't want either toilets or flamingos on their lawns, fundraiser or not. Toilets in particular seem to somehow get people going. Make sure that you have gotten the appropriate approvals before doing them. It seems to work better in smaller communities where most people know each other and share about it at the front end with the local chamber, local mayor and city council etc, so people know that "Purple Toilet Week" is coming etc.

I love the crazy sombrero idea.

Good luck.

use a sombreo (sp).  kids will think it's funny if a teacher has to wear a goofy hat all day.

Flying Flamingos

Doing this fundraiser in a school is different than I have read about it other places. Can you give us some more description of what you are planning to do?

Some thoughts:

1) Get smaller paper flamingos or something that you can tape up, such as these flamingo stir sticks:

http://www.uptownflamingo.com/ka181.html

They are only $3.95 for 20 of them

2) Get permission to provide flamingos to people for a donation (have a table in the hall etc. where people can provide a $1 donation for one, for example)

3) They then go "tape up" the flamingo stir stick in someone's room, on someone's locker, etc.

4) Let someone bring the flamingo back to the table for a $1 donation, or for $2 ($1 to return, $1 to re-post on someone else) they can give it to someone else.

Love to hear other thoughts!

flamingos

is this that fundraiser, where people come and put flamingos on your lawn, and then you pay them to take them off and invade another person's lawn??? I LOVE THOSE!!!!!!Laughing

umm...wow, you're doing it at your school? I didn't know that was possible...but in any event...you could try taping them to doors or windows...or you could stay after school one day, and with the help and permission of a janitor, go and load the room up with flamingos...you know, like, put them on desks, on chairs, by the clock, next to the flag, etc etc. Hope that helped...Cool
