Hello everyone. My husband and I have taken on the task of Entertainment/Activities Chair for the first time for the 2009 relay season. We are fairly new to RFL. We were part of a team last year. It was the first year for our local relay so it wasnt huge. We are looking for any thoughts or ideas that anyone would be willing to share with us on activities and entertainment to make our second year a much larger event that will attract more people and touch on all age groups.

Thank you for any advice that you can give. We are very excited to be taking this on, but of course it is a little frightning for a first timer.

Relay Activities

First of all, plan activities for all kinds of weather. Don't be too specific about what you have planned so things can change depending on the weather.  Have lots of simple activities on the track like having a funny hat lap or swimsuit lap or teddybear lap. Anything like that is fun for everyone. Just make sure to let the team captains know ahead what things they should have their members bring so they can participate.

Cancer awareness scavenger hunts are always good. It gets people looking at the signs and brochures to find the answers! And if you can set up a volleyball net that just allows everyone to play as they will.  Oh, my favorite is having a big tug of war rope. The kids go nuts over it and the adults get to show their stuff too.

Let your mind go nuts on activities and you'll do fine.

Relay beads

I haven't actually done this for an activity, but I hear it is really fun.  Counting you laps with beads.  I know there is a link on the fundraising sight if you want to check it out.  Good Luck
