It seems that our relay just ended but we are all ready looking toward next year.  We want to do a Hawaiian theme and trying to figure out a catchy phrase. Any suggestions or idea would be greatly appreciated.

Thanks!

Phrase

We did a tv theme one year and my team went with a Gilligan Island theme so our slogan was "leave cancer stranded on a deserted island."

Island Theme

Hi Neil!

We just did an island/tropical theme this past year.  "Friends For A Cure are voting cancer OFF the island!"  Of course we used lei's, grass skirts and things like that.

We also made our own palm trees.  We got cardboard tubes from a carpet store and large boxes.  The tubes didn't have any printing on them so we just had to cut them to size (which the great carpet store did for us!).  Then we cut out our leaves from the boxes.  If you were looking down on the tree from the top the leaves formed an "X".  One piece was long and went the entire width of the tree.  The other two were shorter pieces.  We then painted the pieces green and then punched holes where they would meet so we could secure them all together with wire.  I'll have to see if I can attach a picture.  They were really cute and VERY budget friendly.  We just bought paint and brushes.  We put them in large buckets weighted down with sand, but I would recommend something heavier, rocks maybe.

We were planning on doing a hula hoop contest and having a limbo contest, but we never got around to doing either.  We even bought an inflatable limbo set and "Tropical Trophey's" to give to the winners.

I don't know what we're going to do next year.  But I'm like you and ready to get started!

Good luck and happy Relaying!
