I need some help my daughter has come up with a fundraising idea and I need to find a purple light bulb to pull it off. I have looked around and the only thing I can find is what is called a black light. my question is. is this the same thing? Will it give off a purple glow or is it what I recall from back in the day were it really doesnt shine but everything white glows. thats not what she is looking for. I did find some purple holloween lights in strings but she really wants a single bulb for a lamp. any suggests on where i can find this would be great.

I would have look at like

I would have look at like spencers at the mall or anything that might be putting out christmas lights soon. I know there are purple lights like that. Black lights might work but its also expensive for those. I wish you luck with your search. I honestly don't know if there are purple light bulbs. Do an online search you may find some.

Purple Bulbs - you can make them

I would imagine it would be cheaper and easier to simply paint some regular bulbs. You can buy glass paint in a spray can and I think there are a multitude of colors available.

Purple Light Bulbs

Black lights and Purple lights are NOT the same. Black lights produce ultra-violet light that causes the "white glow" that you mention.

G.E. maks a 25 Watt Purple Party bulb that is what you are describing.

Amazon has them for $2.49 each:

Or you can Google "purple light bulbs" for more vendors.

They do make individual

They do make individual colored lights. I have seen them around Halloween, but I bet a novelty store (like Spencers) carries them year round. What, may I ask is the fundraiser?
