Motivating Your Participants to Fight Back
If someone had told me that my social life during the spring/summer would revolve around which Relay we will be attending each weekend, I would have said you were nuts. But that's my life as a Relay volunteer and I wouldn't change a minute of it. We map out the best route to visit as many as we can, trying to get there to experience as much Relay as possible. Taking in all the details and collecting ideas to use at our event or tuck away for another year. Why do we do this? Because we Relay. The "Why" is unique to each person who takes a lap around the track. Why we continue to Relay is universal - we want to help find a cure for cancer. [Click on Read More to continue with this post.]
Rolling out Celebrate, Remember, Fight Back has put a new fresh perspective on our event. Are you excited about the new Fight Back Ceremony? I am! It's like having one big pep rally at your event with everyone rooting for the same team!
I really want to know what all of you are doing to put your own spin on the ceremony. What inspirations have you found to motivate your participants to make their pledges? Are you asking your community to focus on individual goals or a collective goal? There are so many questions! Since I can't get to all of you (especially at $4.00 a gallon for gas), please be your usual generous selves and share your ideas with your fellow volunteers, and we'll share with you! If it goes well, we want to hear. If it doesn't, we want to hear that too. So, let's chat, share our stories and be inspired by each other to Fight Back! -- Colleen
