2008-05-08 Was wondering if anyone had any ideas how to decorate our campsite with the Olympic theme. Our theme is Go For the Gold in the Fight Against Cancer. We go all out on our decorations and this year I am stumped. Any ideas would be a great help. Our Relay is the last weekend in July.
This is also the theme for our Relay. Out of scrap wood we made a riser like they have in the Olympics and made 3 large paper doll style characters out of mat board. They each have a t-shirt and shorts, with our team name on them. Instead of silver, bronze and gold medals, each has a gold medal. On the front of the riser is our team name, "Go for the Gold" and 2008 Summer Oympics with the mascots for this year's Olympics. We have also made a fake torch with "Hope" coming out of the torch. Cost was very minimal and on short notice, we were able to get it done. We'll have pictures if you are interested.
I was thinking perhaps 'Chariots of Fire' in a way reflecting a fight.There are torches with simulating flames...you're relayers could pass it off like a baton.You could get 3"-5" little flags of all the countries that participate in relay.There are 27 such countries.If you need music , John Williams has a cd Summon the Heroes which has olympic style music and Michael Jackson has the song "We Are The World" that would be good.
