What to do now

Be sure to attend team captains' meetings.  There you will find out any information the committee wants you to know about your specific event.  Hold team meetings with your team to discuss and plan what you will be doing the day of the Relay.  That's a start.  What have you done so far?  Do you know when and where your team captains' meetings are?

...

I have asked people to join my team and have been thinking about ways to raise money. I know about one meeting that will be held like a week before the walk. If someone gives me a check, do they have to mail it or do I hand it in with the rest of the money? And do I put in on my page? What's this team shirt thing and team themes?

Your Relay

Each Relay is different.  I am involved with two Relays only about 10 miles apart and they are both completely unique.  I am not sure which Relay is yours, but I believe it to be the Cliffside Park & Fairview Relay For Life®.  You can visit the online page at:

http://relay.acsevents.org/site/TR/RelayForLife/RelayForLifeEasternDivision?fr_id=4629&pg=entry&JServSessionIdr007=x6mkz8hnf1.app313b

For more inforamtion you can e-mail cpfv.relay@cancer.org or call 201-457-3418 x2209.

If they write you a check it must be made payable to the "American Cancer Society" and can be turned in via the team captain's envelope.  If you have not picked up a team captain's packet, contact someone at the above information.

The theme for this Relay is "Around the World for a Cure".  You can decorate your campsite with a country or something.  There's lots you can do with this theme.

T-shirts:  Typically, each team member is asked to raise $100.00 to receive an event t-shirt.  If your team wants to make your own t-shirts you may.  That's probably what you have been reading a lot about.

Hope this helps.  If you have any further questions, please ask.

Sincerely,

Ted
