I come from a huge family and growing up the only one I knew had cancer was my grandmother, she had Cancer of the Uterus. How she survived without a hysterectomy I don't know. Nobody in the family talked about it, I knew a little because I was a bit of a nosy child and would listen in on the adult conversations.
So how grandma made this amazing leap to heal from Cancer back when technology was in it's infancy, is a mystery to me. For we still don't talk about it, despite having a cousin pass 2 years ago from colon cancer, another cousin fighting colon cancer, my sister fighting colon cancer and myself, waiting for my 6 month follow up since my hysterectomy for cervical cancer. A would ask grandma but she passed 6 years ago from a stroke. I miss her so much.

Last year the town I live in, Rincon, PR had it's second cancer relay. I didn't get to participate for at the time I was under going testing to find out what was wrong with me.

This year although I am currently going through testing again, I know my doctor saved my life last year when she continually tested me until she found the cervical cancer.
Therefore I can proudly participate in this years Relay for Life by the American Cancer Society.

I am walking not just for myself but for my daughters too, for one of them already has been diagnosed with HPV and I would hate to see her loose what makes her a woman over this disease.

We really need a cure, help us help the American Cancer Society.

Thank You,

Dicci Brignoni Caro
