Since relay season is now here, what are you doing for the "fight back" ceremony? We're having our all chair meeting in a couple of weeks and I was looking for ideas.
After much thought and debate, we decided to make badges for everyone at the event. 1 out of each 3 will be purple, the other 2 white. We're going to get the relay for life logo stickers from the relaygear website as well as the acs ribbon (with the website, phone number, etc.), and stick the stickers on the white/ purple paper. We're goint to make them in to lanyard badges, and have the participants wear them the whole time (they'll get them at check-in) At opening, we'll explain how 1 in every 3 people will be diagnosed with some form of cancer in their lifetime, and ask the people with white badges to take a seat, and the purple to remain standing. This way, that have some grasp of how many people 1 in 3 is. We're going to then ask for everyone to make a pledge to fight back, and sign the banner, and write their pledge on the back of their badge. The idea (and hope) is that they'll keep them and when they see them, they'll think about their pledge and do something about it... especially the people with the purple badges... (the 1's of 3) We did this all as an alternative, because our ACS staff partner found out thet the little white flags and the i can fight back banner were backordered (for like months)
__Hope this helps!

fight back
We are just beginning to work on our ceremony. We scheduled ours for midnight (our relay goes from 12pm-12pm) I know we will have an inspirational speaker and also issue a challegenge to fight back. We plan to use the small flags and picture a cure, and other ACS mission delivery items. My son is our DJ & I have talked to him about music. We hope to keep it upbeat and ispire a feeling of empowerment. I did chose my music from the online list, soooo much easier than thinking so much about it.
