As newly appointed survivor chair, I was wondering if anyone had any ideas on the survivor celebration. We hope for our Relay to get all the survivors under a large tent donated by the local junior college. There they can register, get their shirts, collect a balloon, have a seat, talk with others, etc. until the opening ceremonies. I was wondering if anyone had ideas on foods, items to have at the tent, etc.
We've tossed around the idea of a goody bag with maybe an apple, granola bar, bottle of water, etc. and having a table with "snacks"...our event is May 30-31...any suggestions would be greatly appreciated!!
I AM ALSO A NEW SURVIVOR CHAIR AND I AM LOOKING FOR ANY INFO I CAN GET I AM WONDERING WHAT YOU ARE DOING FOR YOUR RELAY IE: PROGRAM AS IN WHAT EXCATLY YOU ARE DOING AS I AM HAVING A HARD TIME GETTING PAST CHAIRS HELP..

At our Relay we host our survivor reception the 2 hours prior to opening ceremonies. For food we provide (all donated) pretzels, cookies, water/juice, fruit tray, veggie tray, pinwheel appetizer. We've tried cake before, but it doesn't seem to get eaten. In our goodie bags we provide a booklet of uplifting survivor related quotes, bookmark/magnet, etc with our theme quote/poem printed on it, ACS information, HOPE stones, donated gift certificates, relay for life cardboard fan, lotions, etc. We also provide a survivor medal (each year the survivors get a new pin with the year on it) and a tshirt. In the tent we offer massages, manicures, advocacy (picture a cure), caregiver thank you station. GOOD LUCK!
