This is Heather from Reno/Sparks Relay in Nevada and I was wondering how other Relays are doing with teams.  Our Relay is struggling quite a bit and we think it is because of the ecenomy but I would like to think that we can overcome it.  If other Relays aren't struggling, then we know it's us.  We are having a hard time getting teams (our goal is 120, we had 89 last year, and we are at 36 with 2 months to go) and we are far from our fundraising goal.  Any input from others would be greatly appreciated.  No matter what, I know we'll have a great Relay, but we need things to pick up.

Thanks!

I am in the same boat as

I am in the same boat as you.  I am the Team development Chair for the Hunt RFL in Greenville TX and our goal is just 72 teams and we have 40 as of this morning with 2 months to go.  Last year we had 62?>   I am really concerned that we won't be even close to our goal.  I really believe it does have something to do with the economy and also burnout.  This is our 13th year for relay and I have been involved in the last 9 and I have watched the excitement fizzle.  That is one reason I took this postion, I wanted to make sure the excitment came back, but now I am tired myself.  Well GOOD LUCK!

Thanks, Carrie.  Your

Thanks, Carrie.  Your feedback helps.  I get so tired sometimes, but then I remind myself how much I hate cancer and I know it's important to keep on pushing.  Thanks again and have a great Relay!

You'll Get There!

I don't see how the economy cannot be an issue. Sounds like you have a fairly large Relay, so I can see why you are concerned at 2 months to go.

I have some worry about ours here in San Diego as well, so I'll be watching to see what people suggest. I'm sorry that I don't have any good ideas.

Have you approached the national teams in your area? I've found that to be a good way to get some bigger organizations involved.

Good luck! (I absolutely LOVE your Ghandi quote!)
