I am new to Relay for Life and am team captain this year for a group that has never participated, needless to say it is a bit overwhelming! The theme for the Relay event is "Lights, Camera, Take Action Against Cancer." We would really like something neat to go along with the overall theme, but am clueless. We are on a tight budget, so it needs to be something rather simple but creativity abounds! Any suggestions for tent decorations, team names, games or activities at the tent site would be greatly appreciated!
My University did this theme and we really wanted to incorporate a red carpet but knew it would get way too dirty becuase we were out on wet rec feilds. We settled for red duct tape to line the ienterance from the parking lot to the track.
Relay stars work great for this, our committe presented every team with a silver cardboard star with their team name. It was a great camp site decoration. Oriental trading has a lot of small and large tent decorations to purchase or mimic.

We did the walk of fame at our campsite one year and the survivors loved it. We had all the names of our survivors on the stars and many of them wanted the actual stars when we were done with them. We also printed out pictures of more famous people that were affected by cancer and make posterboards with them on it.

That's a great idea! (Walk of Fame) Maybe the Oscars! Or a movie set, with directors chairs and megaphones (cardboard works!)
Don't forget to speak with your local retailers to help you with ideas and donations for your campsite! Be ready to tell them about the event as you ask, too!

tent theme
I'm thinking about the Hollywood Walk of Fame.That could tie in with your theme.You could put the names of your survivors and caregivers on the stars.
