I can't believe we are working on the third year of Relay for Life at Buford High School. It is absolutely amazing at the involvement level of our students. I started working with the Relay for Life for several reasons. My dad is the first reason. He is a cancer survivor for over 15 years now. The fear that I felt as a teenager when I heard the news will never be forgotten. Another reason is my Aunt Becky. She developed breast cancer in the early 80's and died September 28, 1985. She suffered through chemo and radiation, and there were none of these great pick-me ups like "Look Good, Feel Better" to lift her spirits. She was and will always be an inspiration in how to approach the hard knocks of life. Finally, my family has lost so many members to cancer that it's unbelievable. I think, "What if we had had these treatments when they were diagnosed?" That's why I Relay!
The students here at Buford High School have been touched in some way by cancer as well. So we got involved. The Buford High School Hive team is responsible for the luminaria as well as the Information Booth at the 2008 Lancaster County Relay. Our goal is to raise $5000 this year! With your help we can do it! As of today, we have raised $880 ! If you know a student at Buford High School, ask them about buying a luminary or a foot.
