Definately Attend!

As the previous posters have said, it is very beneficial for you to attend captains meetings!  This is my second year having a team and that first year I felt completely lost, captains meetings helped a lot.  It gave me some direction with what other teams were doing and what I should be doing as well.  That first year is just really a lot of learning and any money you can raise along the way is helpful.  But yes, try to attend all the captains meetings, they will help you tons!

YES!

Being that you are new to Relay & just forming a team there is a lot of information & support that can be given to you at your Monthly meetings.  I am the event chair for my Relay and I strongly suggest that if you cannot attend a meeting you send someone else from your team in your place.  Probably want to take a pen/pencil and some paper as well. Can be helpful to write down info & important dates.  If you have any questions feel free to contact me.  Amy Williams Gloucester VA Relay

I would say that it is best

I would say that it is best to always have at least one person from your team at every meeting. With this being your first year, there is a lot of information that can be very helpful to you! Besides, team captain meetings are a blast! You are definitely starting out on the right foot by asking questions on this site!
