We are currently having a t-shirt design contest for the team shirts we'll wear at the Relay event. One person used the wording "Relay4Life" as part of the design. We'd like to know if this is allowed. Would it be better if he uses the logo instead, or the correct wording of "Relay For Life" or nothing at all? What do other teams do?

We were planning to sell extra shirts as a fundraiser, so I don't know if that makes things more complicated.

R4L

We frequently use R4L to refer to our Relay.  It came about when one of the students at the high school wrote an article about Relay for the local newspaper and used it.  It kinda just stuck, especially with the younger participants.  We've never been told we can't use it...

Our staff partner told us

Our staff partner told us that we could not use the RFL logo on any of our things, but we could put "Relay For Life" on the items (t-shirts included).  I hope that helps! :)

Our team does design a

Our team does design a unique shirt each year that is directly related to our theme, but we are trying to figure out if we're allowed to use the Relay For Life logo on the shirts.

The only information I found online about the usage of logos was specifically directed to how logos can be used on websites, not shirts.

Plenty of teams create team shirts, so I think if the ACS really cared what we put on our shirts, they would include info about it in the team captain packet.

Logos

I would not advise using the Relay4 Life logo.

Please go to the link below and sign up at the ACS Brand Logo Kit.

It gives you the do's and dont's and what you are allowed to do.

Contact Your Staff Partner

I am not sure of the guidelines for team t-shirts, but my recommendation is to contact your staff partner.  They should be able to tell you what is allowed or not.

Shirt Logo

You could design a shirt for your team that used a logo that represents who you are, what your team means, why you Relay, who you Relay for, that kind of thing.  That way you are not using or changing the Relay logo and you are saying something about yourselves.
