Hi all, We've been trying to find alternatives to a balloon release for our closing Fight Back ceremony. The emotional impact is wonderful but many of our relayers are quite concerned about the physical impact the balloons have on our environment. We thought of butterflies but they are expensive and need to have slightly warmer weather than we expect at closing ceremony. We also looked at cellulose balloons but they are VERY expensive. Doves are also expensive and I think prefer to be released in the evening. Any other thoughts?? Thanks in advance. Mary, Relay For Life of Willow Glen, San Jose, CA

HI from the Relay For Life of Forest Hills (Grand Rapids, MI)- last year we wanted to have balloons but we are in a 'flight' path near the airport! We had each person write the number on the balloon of how long they have been a survivor then just before our lunch- each person popped their balloon. it was great@
I guess blowing bubbles isn't quite the same, but you could have people blowiing and making them in different sizes with the wands and the big hoops and the things that crank them out all while Relayers and Survivors have the regular sized bubble things to blow. I know it's not the same visual impact, but it could be fun.
