Games/Activities/Pitstops
Here are some of the games/activities and pitstops that I came up with for our RFL. Cancer Scavenger Hunt, Slip Slop Slap Wrap races, Skin Cancer Word Search, I know someone who... (then then flip up the flap and it reveals facts about that ie: .... has breast cancer would give information about breast cancer, prevention, screening guidelines, etc.), Where does the money go, Great American Eat Right Challenge, Kick Cancer in the Butt, Find the polyp/Pop the polyp, Road to Recovery races, Who wants to be a cancer-free millionaire, CRN grab bags, Match Game (Match the "color" awareness ribbon with the cancer type - Facts given out about that cancer), Sun Patrol Pitstop hands out sunscreen, Nutrition pitstop hands out good snacks, Breast Cancer Bingo. Get active obstacle course. I came up with the ideas/concepts and the team is responsible for implementing the activity/game/pitstop related to Mission Delivery or Advocacy. At our kickoff we had several of our teams that had their ideas already and implemented them for kickoff. I was in awe of their creativity and the depth they had taken this idea. Our goal is to have each team have a game/activity/pitstop at their campsite and have "passports" that can get the community around to the camps and learn how they can FIGHT BACK against cancer. Hope this helps out! Details
Melissa, your ideas are great! Can you provide us with the details of your activities? How they work. What to do. Etc. Specifically, I am interested in the Skin Cancer Word Search, the Match Game, I Know Someone Who...and the Breast Cancer Bingo. These are activities I am interested in doing at our Relay in about 1 1/2 months. Thanks. Breast Cancer Bingo
Ted, If you go to www.acsrelay.org you will find the Breast Cancer Bingo game. The site has stagnated over the years, but they still have some darn good ideas!! As a matter of fact, click on Darn Good Ideas from the home page than go into Cancer control/Mission which is where you will find the game. Hope that helps. Bowling for Polyps
When we did the Bowling for Polyps, we marked out an area and lined the polyps on one end and marked a line on the other where people stood to bowl at them with an orange As it turned out, our park had a fairly uneven ground, which made the bowling very unpredictable but highly entertaining! |
