Corporate Fundraising

I used to do corporate sponsorships for Relay. There are several good strategies for engaging corporations. 1. Corporate Sponsorships: Sponsorships (like in-kind gifts) are great but it really is important to try and create a more long term relationship with a corporation. This can be done by showing the corporation many of the great resources ACS offers to corporations (like workplace solutions). This demonstrates that not only does ACS support strong cancer research, but also provide valuable services survivors, caregivers, healthcare professionals as AND employers. Now sponsorships are a tough one as there are alot of non-profits out there asking corporate foundations for money, almost to a point where that is all they (the foundations) do, talk to non-profits and eventually build up a knee jerk response to an "ask". But if you show that by contributing to ACS not only supports an amazing cause, but also helps provide valuable resources to employers to provide directly to employees. So I would recommend approaching a corporation with a 360 degree relationship approach talking about both what we can do for them (and their employees) and what they can do for us. Here are some resources that can show what we can do for them. 2. Team involvement: One of the ideas I have used in the past is mixing Relay For Life with Active For Life for employees. Since Active For Life promotes healthy employees through physical activity and team work and Relay is all about teamwork, you can work with employers to launch Active For Life and create teams that may also want to be Relay For Life teams after the Active For Life program has completed. Here is more info on ACS Active For Life. The ACS Workplace Solutions site has tons of info on it on how to show value to employers and create a long term relationship that is year round in nature. Here is a cool Flash tour we created that you can email to corporate accounts as well: Here is a PowerPoint we used to use for Relay and Wellness Hope this helps!
