We have planned to do a fundraising night at Applebee's. How it works is every person who brings in a flyer we hand out to people on a certain night we get a 15% of their check. We need to fill out a W9 form and now we've run into the problem of legality. So now we need to know if this is legal and where can I get the info for the W9 form.

Applebee's

Applebee's also does a "Short stack for a tall cause" pancake fundraiser.  One of our teams just did this.  They simply sell tickets (Applebee's provides) for $5 and pay Applebee's $2 for each person who comes in for breakfast.  All you can eat pancakes, coffee, tea and water are provided.  The team served as greeters and waitresses while Applebee's employees volunteered their time to cook.  The team raised more than $400 for a 2 hour fundraiser!!  If you do this, be sure to put out a donation jar--tips are great at these events!!

ACS tax ID

This sort of fundraiser is absolutely ok with the Society. What Applebee's is really asking for is the ACS Federal tax ID number so they can properly write-off their donation. Your Staff partner should be able to provide you the High Plains Division's tax ID number. If Applebee's wants a W-9, it'll have to be prepared and signed by ACS Staff.
