I'm planning on making a quilt to raise $$$ for the Relay. My idea was to sell squares depending on size of the square at different prices, for example; $5 for a 4" square; $10 for a 8" and $15 for a 12" squares. I was gonna sell the squares to walkers/crew and have them email me who they are walking in celebration or in memory of. I was thinking of using a lighter purple material for in MEMORY and a darker purple material for in CELEBRATION of. I'm an avid quilter and go to a quilting group on Fridays at my church. How I was gonna set it up was have a table & the squares set up on the table with fabric pens or something similar to the fabric pens. Then after our Relay, see if the township board would be willing to display it in the township offices for the next year and then sell it off at the next year's Relay. This is a first year Relay event for our township so I was thinking for the border on the top border sash, put "Harrison Township's First Relay For Life 2008" or just "Harrison Township Relay For Life 2008". The other idea was if the township was willing to display it then donate it to the township to commemorate the townships first Relay For Life event. What do you all think of that idea?
The size of the quilt will be a little bigger than a lap quilt just so you all know!
BEFORE I go do this, I want some input on if you all think this is a good idea or prices are too much or too less for the squares.
