My team is getting ready to start approaching business for donations or fundraising opportunities. What are your ideas or best practices for approaching businesses? Thanks!
This is my first year as a captain, my co-captain and I thought about what businesses had something to offer us, % of sale, etc...then how we could help them...advertising.
We put on a smile, walked into the businesses to introduce ourselves and see if they were interested...only one turned us down... If they can't donate a check, they usually offer a gift certificate which can be auctioned/raffled off.
Also utilize the Event webpage, encourage your team to set up their page and use it to email their family and friends. Tell them to make sure they let people know to look under FUNDRAISING IDEAS, then DOUBLE YOUR MONEY to see if their employer matches funds.
First make a list of how you want to call. I normally call them first to let them know what I am looking for, then I will fax or mail them a letter. Good luck
I would love to read feed back from this question. My team is getting ready to go out and fundraise too. We are also on the Survivor commitee and need donations for that too. What has worked for other people and what has not been so good.
