We found out on October 29th of 2005 that Leah had cancer . Her cancer showed up in her left knee. Leah was told she had A.L.L.(Acute Lympoblastic Luekemia). She was able to get one round of Chemo. Leah was doing good until that day her oxygen dropped to 60%. That was the day she had to go to ICU. They told her she would have to go on the ventilator before to long. Of course being a typical hard headed teenager she refused. About one hour later she decided to go on it herself. Leah was finally getting the rest her body needed,so that her body could heal. One day I was told her liver had failed. Then a few days later I was told she was brain dead. In the end her lungs collapsed from some unknown illness they could not identify.Leah passed away one month to the date that we found out she had cancer. On November 29th 0f 2005 Leah went home to be with Jesus. Unlike most cancer patients Leah only had to battle this horriffic disese for one month. My chief complaint is that her doctor did not listen to us. He would call it everything but cancer. On that day that we found out, it took an ER doctor to do a simple test. In August of 2005,my daughter made a comment that she would not live to see 2006. She knew that something was wrong inside her body. We as parents need to make doctors listen and not to give up. Leah was 17 when she went thru all of this. As in the famous words of Danny Thomas: No child should die in the dawn of light.
