Hello,

This is my first year as ceremony chair and I was wondering if someone could assist me in describing to me what the closing ceremonies at their relay is like. We do our awards at the wrap up party after the night of the event, so handing out awards is a no go. Just what's a typical closing ceremony like? Any fresh and new exciting ideas?

 Thanks!

Fight Back and Closing Ceremony

Please click on the Committee Chair toolkit image near the top of the RIGHT nav. In the first few paragraphs, you'll find a link to the Celebrate. Remember. Fight Back. Guidebook. (It's a big PDF, so give it a while to open or download. You can also get a printed copy from your Staff partner.)

In the CRFB Guidebook, you'll find very helpful info on how to prepare for and execute the closing of your Event, now named the Fight Back Ceremony. Fresh and exciting? You bet! Engaging? Absolutely. Reminding your Relayers about why we fight back? An emphatic yes.

Closing ceremony

We also hand out awards at a wrap-up party, but we still announce top teams (corporate & family) and top individual.  We also announce the $1,000+ individuals.  We are going to put our total on poster board (one number per board) and reveal it.

Other ideas are: Have your survivors that are left, lead the final lap; give an award the to team that has the most participants still there for closing ceremonies (announce this beforehand and you might get more people to stay); have a survivor speak and thank all the participants for coming and staying all night....just a few.

Your staff partner shoul also have sample scripts for closing ceremonies that you can tweak to your liking.
