I'm looking for ideas for songs for the Fight Back Ceremony that are NOT included in the workbook or online at THIS website. Any suggestions? I could really use some creative ideas.

Song Suggestions for the Fight Back Ceremony

My vision of the Fight Back Ceremony is one of action.  It should motivate and leave people feeling energized.  I have been looking for songs both with a message and an upbeat tempo.  Here is a list of the songs I am currently considering for our Fight Back Ceremony.  I still searching for music, so if anyone else has a suggestion, please share with us.  Here's the music:

  • Right Now by Van Halen
  • We Are The World by U.S.A for Africa (written by Michael Jackson)
  • Change the World by Eric Clapton
  • I Run for Life by Melissa Etheridge
  • Ain't No Mountain High Enough by Marvin Gaye & Tammi Terrell
  • Unwritten by Natasha Bedingfield
  • You Gotta Be by Des'ree
  • Up Where We Belong by Joe Cocker & Jennifer Warnes
  • Lean on Me by Bill Withers
  • The Power of One by Bomshel
  • Power of Love by Huey Lewis & the News
  • Walking on Sunshine by Katrina & the Waves
  • If Everyone Cared by Nickelback
  • Eye of the Tiger by Survivor
  • Gonna Fly Now (Theme from Rocky) by Bill Conti
  • Dancing in the Street by Martha Reeves & The Vandellas

These songs are in no particular order.  And I am aware some of them may not be up tempo, but I have been considering them.

Right now, I am thinking I will open the Fight Back Ceremony with Van Halen's Right Now.  I want music playing in the background during the ceremony, but have no plans for a songlist yet.  I want to begin the final lap with We Are The World.  Then continue playing songs until the last person is finished.

What do you think?

Songs for Fight Back Ceremony

Last year on our Relay DVD we used "This is My Now" by Jordin Sparks, from American Idol. The lyrics are perfect! Because she's young and from "Idol" I think that the "younger" crowd at our Relay really loved it. It's also easy to understand the lyrics, which sometimes I think become difficult to hear in faster "rock" songs. Good Luck!

Fight Back songs

I am thinking of using an Eagles song called, There's a Hole In The World. It was originally written for 9-11, but I think the chorus fits.........."There's a hole in the world tonight, there's a cloud of fear and sorrow, there's a whole in the world tonight, don't let there be a hole in the world tomorrow."

Everytime we lose someone to cancer, 'there's a hole in the world'.........so let's Fight Back and "don't let there be a hole in the world tomorrow"!

Hope this helps!!
