Hi everyone,
I have been involved with American Cancer Society for many years, but only the past two years as a team member for the Relay For Life. My dad, who passed away in October, had prostate cancer. He survived 5 years after being diagnosed. The last two years he was determined to do the Survivors walk and he did. In the pouring rain, we pushed him around the Park in his wheelchair. He was very proud to be a part of such a worthy cause. We all were.
Last June, my mother in law was diagnosed with Pancreatic Cancer. She has gone through months of Chemotherapy, radiation and is now home recovering from surgery.
This woman is 69 years old, taking care of her disabled daughter and 14 year old granddaughter. She is my true hero. She is a remarkably strong willed person and I hope she will be well enough to walk the survivors walk!
