I believe it is in the form of a poem in relation to a no-host tea party. The premise is you send out this letter with a tea bag stapled to it, inviting the person to brew a cup of tea, then sit back and reflect on those they know who fought cancer and lost as well as those who continue the fight. At the end, you ask for a donation to the Relay to honor those people.
I have also seen it with a golf tee in the form of a round of golf for rememberence.
This wonderful fundraising card was developed by Phyllis Conlon who is part of the Tacoma Relay For Life.
You are cordially invited to take part in A NO-SHOW BENEFIT TEA for the American Cancer Society
Mindful of the busy lives caring people lead, The Spirit of America Relay for Life Team invites you not to go anywhere but to stay home, prop up your feet, sip tea, relax, renew, refresh, and reflect with the knowledge you are helping find a cure for cancer.
THANK you for... NOT showing up anywhere!
*No one spent long hours cooking a banquet...
*No one hassled with picking out just the right outfit...
* No one gave long, humdrum speeches...
*Because of your commitment to comfort and no fuss, you sensibly stayed home and sipped tea...relaxed...renewed...refreshed...reflected!
*Good for you! Good for us! Many thanks!
I am writing you again to ask for your support. I will be walking in the American Cancer Society's Relay For Life at Mt. Tahoma High School on June 1-2. Hundreds of people will be walking for 24 hours to help raise money to fight cancer.
I will be walking as a cancer survivor myself and in honor of many family members and friends who are fighting this disease. Please help in the fight so we don't have to experience losing any more family members or friends.
Any donation is appreciated. Donations are tax deductible. To Donate please mail it in the self addressed stamped envelope included, or you can also visit us on-line at
